Generalist Procurement Consultant  

Position: Interim (6 Month Contract)

Day Rate: £500 - £600 Per Day  

Location: Bristol   

The Generalist Procurement Consultant will actively look at longer term, high value contracts in order to help assess the market and identify opportunities that the business can use to leverage greater service provision and value savings.

You will lead the development of category strategies making recommendations to the business whilst providing knowledge of related procurement legislation including EU regulations for public procurement. 

Main Responsibilities for the Role will Include: 

  • Advise on complex procurements across a range of categories such as facilities management, catering, cleaning, buildings maintenance, grounds maintenance, building works, utilities, professional services, HR and legal. 
  • Analyse category spend and define potential value within contracts, in order to shortlist work based on opportunity and risk.
  • Review contract terms and contractual commitments for selected longer-term agreements in order to carry out high level analysis identifying opportunities and value levers.
  • Review data and produce a high-level report recommending wins for contracts with potential savings and suggested approach which the procurement function can action.
  • Support the current function by providing mentorship and guidance which improves the ability to effectively negotiate with suppliers.
  • Provide advice and guidance allowing the business to improve its approach to the procurement lifecycle with focus on the negotiation and the contract review stage. 

Required Skills: 

  • Extensive experience of contract reviews and negotiations within a public sector environment. 
  • Expert knowledge of the European Union procurement regulations. 
  • Strong and effective decision-making capacity.
  • Effective at interpreting complex and multiple sources of information to make decisions.
  • Improves processes to eliminate non-value adding activities.
  • Highly effective collaboration skills.
