Category Manager – Marketing  

Position:Interim (7 Month Contract)

Day Rate: £700 - £750 Per Day  

Location:City of London 

The Marketing Category Manager will lead and driving strategic sourcing initiatives, defines and controls the category end-to-end Procurement cycle and manages, and optimizes supplier performance and contracts for all managed sub-categories within Marketing, whilst also ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.

Main Responsibilities for the Role will Include: 

  • Responsibility for the Marketing category of spend and develop a strategy to support the overall business initiatives that provides a platform for continuous cost reduction and improved supplier performance.
  • Focus the sourcing activities on the areas of most value to the business in terms of spend, risk and service provision.
  • Take ownership and implement an agreed purchasing strategy, developing, extending and changing it as necessary.
  • Work with stakeholders on their forecasted projects for future buying requirements.
  • Communicate with stakeholders and management to ensure that the Purchasing strategy, approach and process for category is understood, agreed and complied with

Required Skills: 

  • In depth knowledge of Marketing category management.
  • Experience of leading and implementing a broad range of category projects, in managing supplier contracts, and ensuring service performance and reporting within a medium to large multi-site organisation
  • Successful track record of leading complex negotiations 
  • Ability to demonstrate experience in category knowledge and credibility with subject / market expert suppliers and customers
  • Range of demonstrable negotiation styles that reflect our category portfolio 
  • High level of analytical and numerical skill
  • Proven track record of delivery in a fast-paced procurement function.
  • Knowledge of the supply market 
  • Good communicator
  • Excellent customer facing skills
  • Able to work autonomously
  • Experience in leading teams to deliver
  • Flexible to meet the demands of the role
